Privacy Policy for Nouri

Nouri is a self-reflection and support tool designed to help users gently explore their relationship with food and self-image. We take your privacy seriously, and this policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect:
When you use Nouri, we may collect the following information:
Email address: Collected at sign-up to create and authenticate your account.
Onboarding responses: Optional answers to setup questions that personalize your experience.
Journals & meal logs: Content you write or log in-app to support your journey.
Usage data: Non-identifiable data like device type, page views, or feature usage (used to improve the app).
We do not collect sensitive health information as defined by HIPAA.
2. How We Use Your Information:
We use your information to:
Authenticate and manage your account
Display your entries and progress over time
Personalize the app experience (e.g., journaling prompts or affirmations)
Improve Nouri through aggregated, anonymous usage insights
Communicate occasional updates (opt-in only)
Administrative Access:
Authorized Nouri team members have the technical ability to view your journal entries and meal logs stored in our database. This access is not used to routinely read your entries, but may occur in the following limited situations:
To resolve a technical issue you report.
To investigate potential abuse or violation of our Terms of Service.
To improve features or troubleshoot performance issues.
Any such access is limited to authorized personnel and is logged for accountability. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties.
3. Data Storage and Security:
Your data is securely stored using Supabase, a privacy-conscious backend platform. Entries are encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited to you and authorized Nouri personnel as described above, and may also be required by law in certain cases. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties. You may delete your journal or meal entries, or your entire account, at any time through Settings.
4. Not a HIPAA-Covered Entity
Nouri is not a medical provider and is not a “covered entity” under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). While we take significant measures to protect your privacy, HIPAA regulations do not apply to information you enter into the app. If you are receiving services from a healthcare provider, please do not assume that entries made in Nouri are part of your medical record.
5. Children:
Nouri is not intended for users under 13. If we learn a user is under 13, we will delete their account and associated data immediately.
6. Changes to This Policy:
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Major changes will be communicated within the app or via email.
